Here at GBC and GCS, we are thankful for the wonderful gift of sports and the many benefits sporting activities bring to life. That being said, we need to keep sports in their proper perspective and learn to bring maximum glory to God through them. Starting in mid October, we will be holding a special 2 to 3 week Sunday school class for anyone interested, but particularly teenagers, parents of teens, and parents of younger children (and couples who don’t have children yet). The class is called, “Don’t Waste Your Sports” and should be of benefit to all athletes, fans, moms, dads, and even grandparents. The class will begin Sunday, October 17th in the fellowship hall. Below, you will find some information and video teasers to help get you excited for the class! Thanks! Pastor Nate
“We can exploit sports for our own ambition and fame. We can worship our sports, our heroes, and even ourselves. Because of our sin, we often waste the gift of sports.
Or, we can enjoy sports for the glory of God. By modeling humility and joy both on and off the field, we capture an opportunity to glorify God.
In this one-hour message, C.J. Mahaney reminds us that the way we play, coach, watch, or talk sports matters to God. Whether you’re an athlete, a coach, a parent, or simply a fan, C.J. appeals to you: Don’t waste your sports”
